Theme: Musical Odyssey
We invite you to join us on this musical odyssey from Edinburgh (you will embark in neighboring Rosyth) to Lisbon, as we explore the rich cultural heritage of western Europe while accompanied by world-class chamber musicians performing a specially curated repertoire highlighting composers and musical styles from the countries you will visit.
In ports of call along your way, you will have access to myriad cultural and historic treasures, including five UNESCO World Heritage sites, while your days at sea will be filled with music from composers who hail from the lands you will encounter during your cruise.
Highlights will include works from the likes of César Franck, Erik Satie, and Claude Debussy. As you head further south to the Iberian Peninsula, you will explore lively Spanish dance music and end with works themed on a night at the opera – a veritable feast of music!
After your first day at sea, you arrive in Ostend, Belgium, from where you will visit delightful Bruges. Next, you will proceed to Honfleur, birthplace of Satie, and St. Malo, the gateway to spectacular Mont-Saint-Michel.
After a second day at sea, you arrive in Spain, where you will depart on a full day guided tour of La Coruña and Santiago de Compostela. While in Santiago de Compostela, your musicians will host you for a private recital at the historic Royal Chapel of the Hostal dos Reis Católicos. Your final port of call brings you to Viana do Castelo, Portugal – with a quick drive to lovely Porto.
Throughout the cruise, your musicians will treat you to additional recitals in the ship’s theater while onboard, creating a truly unforgettable musical journey at sea!
